To edit your subscriber settings, click the Subscribers link on the left navigation under your profile picture, then select "Edit Settings" at the top right. While you may think you have done a good job at maintaining your privacy settings, be sure to use the "View As" feature to fine-tune your profile before opening the flood gates to subscribers.

It also makes you wonder if Facebook is working on a feature perhaps that is a "Pay to Subscribe" down the road so maybe this is why the change occurred? Overall though, I love the feature whether it's called Subscribe or Follow. As it has allowed me to let others follow my public rants while still keeping my friends and family semi-protected.
Often times I do not even answer friend requests because I know the person is now simply Subscribing.. Following me! It is important that you build connections with them — these are people who strongly feel about your business. Also, paying attention to what kind of content works with your audience will help you create better. Listening to what your audience has to say in the comments section, putting out a survey or poll to get quick feedback will help you understand the needs of your audience better. Contrary to what you may feel, the best space to reach out to people and tell them about your subscription group is on your current Facebook group.
The audience on your Facebook group knows and trusts you. They have been engaging with you and are most likely to pay for exclusive content. Create posts and videos that highlight what value you are offering on the subscription group and why is it something they should not miss out on.
You can also host a live session where you talk about your subscription group and tease some of the content that will be available to its members.
